More scripts wanted [16.07.2009]

July 16, 2009

Company A
**

We are looking for completed feature-length contained scripts in either the horror, thriller, action or horror-comedy genres from either WG-writers or produced/option writers; otherwise, please submit only if your script has won or placed as a finalist in a contest. Please state in the personal message space which contests your script won or placed in or which scripts were optioned or produced. By contained scripts, we mean the story should be set in 5 or fewer locations or all the events in the film occur in one night, a few hours, etc. An example of a horror-comedy we like would be “Shaun of the Dead.” An example of a contained action or thriller in this vein would be “Taken” or “Vacancy.” We are not open to campy comedic scripts, but we like the dark humor of graphic novel writer Garth Ennis (“Preacher,” “The Boys”). At this time we are only open to the genres mentioned above.

Budget will not exceed $3-5 million. WG writers only may submit (with the exception of the above).

For more information on gaining access to this lead, please see www.InkTip.com/pnews.php.

We are looking for completed feature-length action scripts set in an urban setting in the United States. The character-driven story must have good pacing with a solid storyline and a generous amount of great combat scenes. The characters should be unique, deep and display charismatic personalities. The antagonist should not be over the top or one-dimensional but should provide a lot of depth without any cheesy dialogue. Think Jack Nicholson in “The Departed,” Alan Rickman in “Die Hard” or Javier Bardem in “No Country for Old Men.” In other words, the antagonist must leave a strong impression on the viewer. We are not open to vampires, non-human characters or sci-fi.. Because this is a low-budget project, please do not submit anything with a lot of explosions or special effects. The writer must be flexible to changes and work fast.

Budget will not exceed $1 million. WG and Non-WG writers may submit.

We are looking for completed feature-length low-budget horror scripts from produced or optioned writers. Please submit only if this script has won or placed as a finalist in a contest. In the resume space provided, please list the contest and placing as along with the optioned or produced titles. This is for a slate of several low-budget feature films we are developing with a group of young directors. Bear in mind that because these are each low-budget projects, we are not open to scripts involving expensive sets (e.g. football stadiums) or multiple explosions. We are open, however, to a variety of horror that can range from supernatural to serial killers to creature-features and everything in between. At this time, we are only open to writers or scripts that fit the above criteria.

Budget has yet to be determined (but will be low for each). WG and Non-WG writers may submit.

We are looking for completed feature-length character-driven festival-oriented material that is not “formulaic.” Basically, we’re looking for scripts from writers who know the “Hollywood formula,” have it mastered and moved beyond to experiment with new structures and ideas – i.e. something as new and different now as “Donnie Darko” or “Raising Arizona” or “Crash” or “Adaptation” were when they were made.

When submitting, please provide an introduction explaining the idea in the personal message space, and make sure you include a detailed synopsis.

Obviously, we want to know what the story is about and what makes it stand out before we request a script and spend two hours reading it. Non-WG writers only should submit. Budget will not exceed $2 million.

Scripts wanted – Gimme a Break – Female Driven Mystery Scripts

July 7, 2009

We are looking for completed feature-length contemporary female-driven mystery scripts that are written and formatted for television broadcast. Please note that we need the main character/protagonist to be in her 30’s. By “female-driven mystery,” we mean a crime or thriller story in which the female is the protagonist, not a secondary character. Please only submit if your script meets all of the above criteria precisely. We are not interested in projects that can be “easily adapted.” Please note that we’re not interested in conventional stories in which the protagonist is a cop or P.I. We are looking for interesting protagonists with interesting integration into the story, not something that’s been done countless times before. Please also note that the story we’re looking for will involve a lot of twists and turns in the plot, so story-driven scripts are a must.

Budget will not exceed $2 million. WGA and non-WGA writers may submit.

Our credits include “Color of Justice” and “Lifestories: Families in Crisis – Confronting Brandon: The Intervention of an Addict.” and several features in development.
