The 2008 Blazing Quill Screenwriting Competition

We would like to each and every one of the entrants for the 2008 Blazing Quill Screenwriting Competition. We received a record amount of entries and a record amount of good, solid screenplays. Entries were judged on originality, creativity, and industry standard formatting. We were looking for a writer’s sincere effort to produce a quality story. All winners will receive a congratulatory letter with details of their prizes enclosed. The winners of the 2008 Blazing Quill Screenwriting Competition are as follows:

First Place
Name: Julia Cunningham
Screenplay: Damien and Isabella
Brief Synopsis: Damien and Isabella are two star-crossed sweethearts in 19th century France. However, when Damien wounds the son of the Vicomte defending Isabella’s honor he must go to war to serve out his sentence. Now believing Damien to be dead, Isabella is driven into madness and the arms of another man. With Damien’s return the two lovers must fight the class system and Isabella’s impending marriage to a man she doesn’t love in this grown up fairy tale of passion, loss, and revenge.

Second Place
Name: Jeremy Dorfman
Screenplay: Love Me Don’t
Brief Synopsis: When the husband in a couple who were married purely out of spite has an affair, he decides to search out a man for his wife to have an affair with, so as to put her at fault for the divorce.

Third Place
Name: Timothy Armstrong
Screenplay: Trash
Brief Synopsis: A boy and a girl fall through the city dump into a magical underground world where they befriend strange thrown-away creatures called Trash. The Trash are wary of wasteful humans, but they accept Jack and Desiree, and together they fight the Deadpans – evil scrap-iron soldiers who are plotting to blow up the world above.

Competition Prizes

The top three winners will receive from InkTip.com:
1) An e-mail announcement about your winning screenplay to their list of
industry professionals.
2) Placement of at least your logline and synopsis on their password
protected web site. You may also place the treatment and/or script.
3) Include a logline (pitch) for your winning screenplay in their printed
publication, which is snail-mailed to 4500 industry professionals.

The top three winners will receive from So You Wanna Sell A Script:
1) Total Script Express, a personal e-query to over 3,000 industry professionals
comprised of studio executives, producers, agents, etc.
2) One Year free listing in The Script Marketplace, a private online database, open
